The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
