The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
