The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
