The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 and the day in splendour 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 And affirms goodness, 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
