The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And denied the best matter, 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
