The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
