The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
