The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
