The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
