The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
Almighty God's Truth.
