The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
