The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
