Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Ha Mim! 1 This is a revelation from the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate, 2 A Book of which the verses are made plain, an Arabic Quran for a people who know: 3 As a giver of good tidings and a warner; but most of them turn away, so they do not hear. 4 And they say: "Our hearts are under coverings (screened) from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen, so work you (on your way); verily, we are working (on our way)." 5 Say thou: "I am but a man like you: It is revealed to me by Inspiration, that your Allah is one Allah: so stand true to Him, and ask for His Forgiveness." And woe to those who join gods with Allah,- 6 Who give not the poor-rate; and they! in the Hereafter, they are disbelievers. 7 But those who believe and do the right, will have a continuing reward. 8
