The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 "Do you build high palaces on every high place, while you do not live in them? 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 "Now fear Allah, and obey me. 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 “This is nothing but the tradition of former people.” 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 And so they gave him the lie: and thereupon We destroyed them. In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 139 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 140
