The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 Hath taught the Qur'an. 2 He created man. 3 He taught him eloquent speech. 4 The sun and the moon are made punctual. 5 And the herbs and the trees do prostrate (to Him). 6 And Allah has raised the sky; and He has set the balance. 7 In order that you may not corrupt the balance. 8 And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance. 9 He set down the earth for the creation. 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 And grain covered with husk, and fragrant flowers. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 and He created the jinn from smokeless fire. 15 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 16 The Lord of the Two Easts, the Lord of the Two Wests. 17 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 [yet] between them is a barrier which they may not transgress. 20 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 21 Out of them come pearls and coral. 22 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 23 To Him only belong the sailing ships, raised above the sea like hills. 24 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 25
