The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER this unfolding [of God's message,] as it comes down from on high! 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. 3 It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form); 6 While he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] was in the highest part of the horizon, 7 Then he drew near and hung above suspended, 8 until he was two bows' length away, or nearer. 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 Will you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 At the farthest lote-tree; 14 near which is Paradise. 15 Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!) 16 His sight did not waver nor was it unduly bold. 17 Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord. 18 So did you observe the idols Lat and Uzza? 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 What! for you the males and for Him the females! 21 This is an unfair distinction! 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Or is there for man whatever he wishes? 24 But to Allah belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world). 25

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
