The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Beneficent (God) 1 who taught the Quran -- 2 has created man, 3 He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 Do not transgress the scales. 8 And observe the weight with equity and do not make the balance deficient. 9 He has laid out the earth for His creatures. 10 There are fruits of all kinds on it, and date-palms with their clusters sheathed, 11 Grain with husk, and fragrant grasses. 12 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 13 He has created man, from dry ringing clay, like the potter"s, 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 16 Lord of the two easts and of the two wests is He. 17 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 From the two oceans comes pearls and coral. 22 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 25
