The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 has taught the Koran. 2 has created man, 3 [And] taught him eloquence. 4 The sun and the moon move according to a fixed reckoning; 5 And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration. 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 In order that you may not transgress (due) balance. 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates); 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 16 Lord of both the Easts, and Lord of both the Wests! 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. 20 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 21 From these seas come forth pearls and coral. 22 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 23 By His command, the ships with raised masts sail on the sea like mountains. 24 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 25
