The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
