(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 And gave little, and then stopped? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 And Abraham who paid his debt: 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 and that nought shall be accounted unto man but what he is striving for; 39 and that in time [the nature of] all his striving will be shown [to him in its true light,] 40 whereupon he shall be requited for it with the fullest requital; 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 And that it is He Who made (you) laugh and made (you) cry? 43 It is He who causes death and gives life. 44 And that He createth the pair, the male and the female. 45 from an ejaculated drop (of sperm), 46 and that upon Him is the second creation 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 and that it is He alone who sustains the brightest star; 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 And the Thamud nor gave them a lease of perpetual life. 51 and before them the nation of Noah, they exceeded in evil and were insolent. 52 And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah). 53 So that they were covered over by what they were covered over. 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 The Approaching Day has approached. 57 Of it, [from those] besides Allah, there is no remover. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And do you laugh instead of weeping, 60 while you make merry? 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62
