In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
