A crowd of earlier generations 39 and also a large throng from those of later times. 40 And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand? 41 In scorching wind and boiling hot water. 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor refreshing. 44 They were endowed with good things 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin. 46 And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?- 47 Or our fathers of yore? 48 Say, "Indeed, the earlier ones and the later ones 49 Will all be brought together to the tryst of an appointed day. 50 and then, verily, O you who have gone astray and called the truth a lie, 51 Shall surely eat of the tree of Az-Zqqum. 52 "Then will ye fill your insides therewith, 53 And thereon ye will drink of boiling water, 54 Drinkers even as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 Such will be their entertainment on the Day of Requital! 56 We have created you, so why do you not believe? 57 Have ye seen that which ye emit? 58 Do you create it, or We are its creator? 59 It is We Who have ordained death among you, and We have not been beaten - 60 From replacing you with others or raising you in a way you do not know. 61 You have surely known of the first creation. Why then, will you not remember! 62 Have you seen what you sow? 63 is it you that sow it, or are We the Sower? 64 If We so pleased, We could turn your harvest into chaff. Then you would start lamenting, 65 "Verily, we are ruined! 66 Rather, we have been deprived." 67 Have you thought about the water you drink? 68 Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder? 69 If We will, We would make it bitter, why then do you not give thanks? 70 Did you consider the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you that originated its tree, or are We the Originator? 72 We have made it as a reminder and convenience for the needy. 73 Then glorify with praises the Name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74
