And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 'No' they replied: 'We bring you (news) of that concerning which they were doubting. 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 He said: Surely these are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me, 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By thy life (O Muhammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Surely in that are signs for such as mark; 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
