He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 You pay full attention, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
