We have not created the heavens and earth, and what between them is, for vanity; such is the thought of the unbelievers, wherefore woe unto the unbelievers because of the Fire! 27 Shall We treat those who believe and do good works as those who spread corruption in the earth; or shall We treat the pious as the wicked? 28 (It is) a Book We have revealed to you abounding in good that they may ponder over its verses, and that those endowed with understanding may be mindful. 29 And We bestowed on David, Solomon. How excellent a slave! Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (toward Allah). 30 Behold, there were brought before him, at eventide coursers of the highest breeding, and swift of foot; 31 he said: “Lo! I have come to love this wealth on account of the remembrance of my Lord.” And when the horses disappeared, 32 Bring them back to me' And he hacked their legs and necks (slaughtering them for Allah). 33 And verily We tried Solomon, and set upon his throne a (mere) body. Then did he repent. 34 He said: 'Forgive me my Lord, and give me a kingdom the like of which will not befall any after me, surely, You are the Giver' 35 And so We made subservient to him the wind, so that it gently sped at his behest whithersoever he willed, 36 As also the evil ones, (including) every kind of builder and diver,- 37 and others joined together by (iron) fetters. 38 “This is Our bestowal – you may therefore bestow favours or withhold them – you will not be questioned.” 39 And he enjoyed, indeed, a Near Approach to Us, and a beautiful Place of (Final) Return. 40
