When your Lord called out to Moses, saying, "Go to the wrongdoing people, 10 The people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh). Will they not fear Allah and become righteous?" 11 He answered: "O my Sustainer! Behold, I fear that they will give me the lie, 12 And I shall be embarrassed, and my tongue will not speak plainly, therefor send for Aaron (to help me). 13 As for me, they hold the charge of a crime against me. I fear they will put me to death." 14 He said: By no means, so go you both with Our signs; surely We are with you, hearing; 15 go both to Pharaoh and both of you say to him: 'We are (each) a Messenger from the Lord of all the Worlds. 16 so send forth with us the Children of Israel." 17 Fir'awn said: brought we not thee up amongst us as a child? And thou tarriedst amongst us for many years of thy life? 18 You spent many years of your life among us and then you committed that deed of yours. You are very ungrateful indeed." 19 He said: I did it then while I was of those unable to see the right course; 20 Then I fled from you when I feared you, and my Lord bestowed on me wisdom and made me one of the sent ones. 21 "And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 Pharaoh said, "What is this: Lord of the Universe?" 23 Moses said, "Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if only you would be convinced." 24 (Firon) said to those around him: Do you not hear? 25 (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!" 26 [Pharaoh] exclaimed: "Behold, [this] your 'apostle' who [claims that he] has been sent unto you is mad indeed! 27 Moses said, "He is the Lord of the East and the West, and all that lies between them, if only you could understand." 28 Said he: If you will take a god besides me, I will most certainly make you one of the imprisoned. 29 (Moses) said: "Even though I have brought to you something convincing?" 30 (Pharaoh) said: Produce it then, if thou art of the truthful! 31 So (Moses) cast his staff, and lo, it turned into a living serpent. 32 And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers. 33
