The Ad gave the lie to the Messengers. 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 127 What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting, 128 "And do you get for yourselves palaces (fine buildings) as if you will live therein for ever. 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 Hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 and with gardens and springs. 134 "Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day." 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 This has been happening all along. 137 and we shall not be chastised.' 138 In response they denied him – We therefore destroyed them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
