The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
