The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and banana trees, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water gushing, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
