Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 In an elevated garden, 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
