Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
We sent Noah to his people, saying, 'Warn thy people, ere there come on them a painful chastisement.' 1 He said, 'O my people, I am unto you a clear warner, 2 That you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me: 3 That He may forgive you somewhat of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Lo! the term of Allah, when it cometh, cannot be delayed, if ye but knew. 4 He said; 'My Lord, I have called my people by night and by day, 5 “So for them, my calling them increased their fleeing away.” 6 "And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 "And behold I called unto them openly; 8 And declared to them in public and in private, 9 Then I said, "Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Surely He is the most forgiving. 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 And will give you increase of wealth and sons, and give you gardens and springs of water. 12 "'What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long-suffering in Allah,- 13 when He has created you through different stages of existence? 14 Do you not see how God has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 "'And made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp? 16 Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 how He will then return you to it and bring you forth again, 18 And Allah has made for you the earth an expanse 19 That you may go about therein in broad roads. 20
