He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and fearfully, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted and purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
