'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 Recall, when their brother Hud said to them: "Have you no fear? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 So fear God and listen to me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting, 128 "And do you get for yourselves palaces (fine buildings) as if you will live therein for ever. 129 "And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power? 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 And orchards and springs. 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers! 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 So they rejected him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 139 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
