Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
WE SENT NOAH to his people to warn them before the painful punishment came upon them. 1 He said: O my people! verily I am unto you a warner manifest. 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 He will forgive your sins and give you a respite for an appointed time. When the time which God has appointed arrives, none will be able to postpone it. Would that you knew this!" 4 He said: “My Lord, I called my people by night and by day, 5 And my calling hath only increased them in fleeing. 6 And verily so oft as I call them, that Thou mayest forgive them, they place their fingers into their ears, and wrap themselves with their garments, and persist, and are stiff-necked. 7 "And behold I called unto them openly; 8 and spoke to them in public and in private." 9 Then I said, "Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Surely He is the most forgiving. 10 He will send down upon you the cloud, pouring down abundance of rain: 11 And will give you increase of wealth and sons, and give you gardens and springs of water. 12 strengthen you by (providing) you wealth and children, and make gardens and streams for you. What is the matter with you that you are not afraid of the greatness of God 13 when He has created you in stages? 14 ‘Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens atop each other?’ 15 and set the moon therein for a light and the sun for a lamp? 16 Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 "'And in the End He will return you into the (earth), and raise you forth (again at the Resurrection)? 18 And Allah has made for you the earth wide spread (an expanse). 19 "'That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.'" 20
