The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 And made things easy for them. 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 frowned and scowled; 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
