The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Arise, and warn, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 Then he thought; 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
