He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and in awe of God 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 lofty and pure, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 olives, dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
