The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 And accepts the best, 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And rejects the best, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
