Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 And gave little, and then stopped? 34 Hath he knowledge of the Unseen so that he seeth? 35 Did not the news reach him, of that which is mentioned in the Books of Moosa? 36 and Abraham, who paid his debt in full? 37 That no soul laden bears the load of another, 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense. 41 To your Lord will all things eventually return. 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 and that He Himself created the two sexes: male and female, 45 of a sperm-drop, when it was cast forth, 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction; 48 And that He it is Who is the Lord of Sirius; 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 And Thamud - and He did not spare [them] - 51 and before them the people of Noah who were even more unjust and insolent; 52 He plunged the villages 53 So that they were covered over by what they were covered over. 54 Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt. 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 What is to come is imminent. 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And will you laugh and not weep? 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 So prostrate yourselves before God and worship him. ۩ 62
