The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
