He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 So you are after him! 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and who has fear of God, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
