The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Allah, the Most Gracious 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 He has created man: 3 Taught him the mode of expression. 4 The sun and the moon are in a reckoning. 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 He raised the sky and set the Balance 7 that you may not transgress in the balance, 8 And observe the weight with equity and do not make the balance deficient. 9 And the earth! He hath lain it out for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees with their dates in sheaths, 11 the grain in the blade; and aromatic herbs. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 And the jinn did He create of smokeless fire. 15 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 21 There cometh forth from both of them the pearl and coral-stone. 22 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 25
