The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
