In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By (the angels) sent forth with the commands of God, 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force! 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 then the criterion (the verses of Koran), separating 4 By those who bring down the Reminder, 5 To excuse or to warn, 6 BEHOLD, all that you are told to expect will surely come to pass. 7 When the stars are extinguished, 8 Heavens will rent asunder. 9 The mountains will be blown away as dust. 10 And when the apostles are gathered at their appointed time 11 to what day shall they be delayed? 12 The Day of Judgement. 13 And what knowest thou what the Day of Decision is? 14 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 15 Did We not destroy [so many of] those [sinners] of olden days? 16 And We shall cause those of later times to follow them. 17 Thus do We deal with the guilty. 18 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 19 Did We not create you of a mean water, 20 Then We placed it in a secure resting-place, 21 for a term pre-ordained? 22 So We did measure, and We are the Best to measure (the things). 23 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 24 Have We not made the earth a repository 25 for the living and the dead, 26 And placed therein high mountains and given you to drink sweet water therein? 27 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 28 Depart to that which you belied! 29 Proceed to a shadow [of smoke] having three columns 30 which neither gives shade nor protects one from the flames. 31 Surely it sends up sparks like palaces, 32 So like golden camels." 33 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 34 They will not be able to speak that day, 35 Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse. 36 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 37 that Day of Distinction [between the true and the false, when they will be told]: "We have brought you together with those [sinners] of olden times; 38 Now, if ye have a trick (or plot), use it against Me! 39 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 40
