The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 by the night swarming, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
