The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few of later ages, 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water everflowing. 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And couches raised up. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
