The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 So how did My punishment turn out, and My threats? 16 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 plucking up men as if they were stumps of uprooted palm-trees. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
