Al-Shams

The Sun (Al-Shams)

15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)

In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

And by the sun and its brightness; 1 and the moon as it reflects the sun! 2 The day when it reveals his radiance, 3 And [by] the night when it covers it 4 and by the sky and by Him Who made it; 5 The earth and its spreading out, 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 and imbued it with (the consciousness of) its evil and its piety: 8 He will indeed be successful who purifies it, 9 and those who corrupt their souls will certainly be deprived (of happiness). 10 Thamud belied in their exorbitance. 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 But they gave him the lie, and cruelly slaughtered her - whereupon their Sustainer visited them with utter destruction for this their sin, destroying them all alike: 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15

True are the words of God the Almighty.
