In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 or orders piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
