The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And pollution shun. 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
